Will S. Randall

Will Randall, an Engineer and retired Contractor from Central Florida, fell in love with the world of nature photography. Living in an area renowned for birding and nature photography made it easy to spend morning after morning pursuing that “TackSharp” shot.

The Inspiration

As Will spent time in the field and continued to meet fellow enthusiasts, he discovered that he and his fellow colleagues all faced a similar predicament. Shooting birds with telephoto lenses during long sessions required some kind of stable support, usually in the form of a tripod and head. These tools made for stable shots, but made inflight or other motion shots nearly impossible. Observing himself and others stumbling about, trying to capture these action shots with expensive lenses and cameras, inspired Will to find a better way.

TackSharp is Born

The TackSharp Camera Rest was born out of that moment: a lightweight, sturdy, cushioned sandbag platform mounted on a tripod. This new system provided the same stability as with a camera mounted directly to a ball or gimbal head. It also provided the fastest possible transition from a stable rest to hand held, allowing Will to simply pick the camera up from the camera rest and continue shooting freehand.
